Young disabled people from across the Yorkshire and the Humber region met in Leeds for the Trailblazers spring meeting.

The group welcomed three new members from Pontefract, Bradford and York and the young people discussed updates and findings from our hate crime and cinema campaigns.

The campaigners were also updated on the activities of the All Party Parliamentary Group's evidence sessions on access to university and tourism.

Mathy Selvakumaran, Trailblazers' East Midlands' regional ambassador gave a presentation on our ongoing housing survey and investigation and also recommended the organisation Remap - a national charity where retired engineers build custom made equipment for disabled people. Remap aims to help disabled people achieve independence and better quality of life through providing equipment suited to the individuals needs.

Later on in the day, Trailblazers watched a screening of ‘A Life Worth Living: Pushing the Limits of Duchenne', and discussed the themes involved in the film.

The Trailblazers met to discuss recent activities including the cinema campaign and upcoming parliamentary events. It was a great chance to meet new people and share experiences so please get in touch if you would like to attend the next event.

The Yorkshire and the Humber Trailblazers held their third group meeting at the Merrion Hotel, Leeds city centre.

This meeting included discussions on the services in the local area and was a good chance to share campaigning ideas for the new year ahead.

Yorkshire and the Humber Trailblazers group meeting

The Yorkshire and the Humber Trailblazers held a group meeting at the Merrion Hotel Leeds city centre.

Trailblazers discussed local campaigns and personal issues, focussing on employment, tourism and education.

Yorkshire and Humber Trailblazers group launch
Wednesday 12th May 1.30pm - 4.30pm

The Yorkshire and the Humber Trailblazers launched their regional group at The Express Holiday Inn, Leeds City Centre, on Wednesday 12th March.

The meeting was well attended and we had a few new faces Trailblazers shared similar interests in disability rights. Attendees also had the chance to participate in campaign training, discussing any issues affecting them in their local area.
