Crossgar, a tiny village in County Down Northern Ireland.

YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH TRAILBLAZERS

How did you first hear about Trailblazers?
I actually founded Trailblazers a year before it kicked off UK wide here in Northern Ireland. I was fed up with non-disabled adults talking for us, so I founded it with Family Care Officer Oonagh Morrison as a result and have stayed with it since!

Why did you get involved with Trailblazers?
I felt young disabled individuals weren't having their own voice on the real issues which affect us. This was a way for our voices to be heard without non-disabled adults speaking for us, and giving us power within the media.

If there was one thing I could change or achieve, it would be...
For Trailblazers to be on par with the Civil Rights Movement with real change happening for future generations.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
I'd visit Louisa May Alcott, her father and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Asides from being writers, the Alcotts were the first to educate a disabled boy with a mainstream class in the world. The boy was a resident of Concord, MA. The young boy had a wheelchair made for him by Louisa's father so he could attend class with the others in the 1800's - the beginning of integration.

Favourite food/drink
Food - southern fried chicken goujons with sweet chilli dip. Drink - Tea, milk and two sugars thanks!

Favourite ice cream flavour
Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

Favourite TV show/movie
TV Show - American Idol, hands down. Movie - Inception, Avatar, Inside I'm Dancing and Breakfast on Pluto - I cant pick just one!
