22 December 2010 SOUTH WEST TRAILBLAZERS MEET TO DISCUSS CHANGING PLACES
South West Trailblazers Ambassadors Kimberly Randle and Steve Ledbrook visited the Mencap charity headquarters on Thursday 16th December. They had an interview with Mike Le-Surf, the Development Officer for the Changing Places Campaign.
What is Changing Places, you ask? Well if you visit this link http://www.changing-places.org/ ; then you can see exactly what it’s all about. It mentions that thousands of people need the Changing Places toilets to help them to enjoy the day to day activities many of us take for granted.
They need Changing Places toilets with enough space and the right equipment, including a height adjustable changing bench and a hoist.
Steve Ledbrook said: “It was a productive meeting and it was great to find out all about what Changing Places was and how’s it being campaigned for across the country. This is an excellent campaign and clearly emphasizes the importance of having accessible loos that will cater for all disabilities. It will greatly enhance everyone’s independence”
Kim Randle said: "We got to find out exactly what the campaign involved and ways that the south west trailblazers can help, it was good to talk to another charity about the same problems we all face, if we work together we can create an understanding and awareness that something so small, will enable everyone to live an independent life"
This meeting will assist with the South West Trailblazers current campaign to research and to look at Disabled Facilities at temporary outdoor events across the region
The next South West Trailblazers meeting is at the Express by Holiday Inn in Taunton on 15th January 2pm to 4pm
