13 February 2012 Mathy's working week with Trailblazers
Earlier this month East Midlands Trailblazers ambassador Mathy Selvakumaran visited the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign office and spent a week getting her teeth into our campaigns as part of a work experience placement. ![]()
Trailblazers are in the process of developing a brand new work experience and employment programme, and we hope to be able to support many more people into employment over the coming months. We also hope to see facilitate more placements for people with external employers too.

In the three days I spent in the MDC offices I was able to see what happens there on a day-to-day basis. Some of the things I did included working on our housing campaign, meeting with a Parlaympics adviser, researching and drafting a Guardian newspaper article, and finalising arrangements for the upcoming Trailblazers regional meetings.
I'm so glad I finally managed to sort out enough time to visit the office - it's something I've been meaning to do since I went to my first regional meeting. If you're thinking about volunteering and spending some time helping out in Traiblazers HQ I'd definitely recommend it - I'm sure they'd appreciate any time and help you can offer!
