Why campaign?

Trailblazers work to make a difference and remove barriers

Disabled people face obstacles every day which are not of their making. It could be access to uni or to a job or to transport or to shops, and so the list goes on. Lack of access to fundamental facilities and services (as well as an underlying layer of discrimination in general society) play a big role in preventing disabled people playing a full role in society.

Although the Disability Discrimination Act has been a part of the law since 1995, it is not thoroughly enforced and many businesses and organisations in the public and private sector continue to ignore it.

Our motivation to campaign comes from a desire to achieve equality for disabled people – which isn’t asking for much, when you think about it. The same access to uni or to a job or to transport or to shops…

We need as many people as possible to sign up for Trailblazers in order to help us make that change. The more backing that we have, the more effective our campaigns will be.
