11 March 2010 How a Certain High School Treated Its Disabled Pupils Part 2
When I was in year 11 one of my friends (he was disabled and used an electric wheelchair) had a crush on a girl. The supports at school got the girl to speak to my friend (e.g. saying hello). My friend then thought she fancied him, which was the supports idea. They claimed it was to make him happy. They did the same thing every time he fancied a girl. One time I got annoyed with a support because she was telling my friend how much this girl liked him (the girl spoke to him once). Then I stormed out of the room. She followed and stood in front of my wheelchair. She then shouted at me and told me not to ruin his illusions. I find it sad that some people think the only way to make a disabled person happy is to give them false hope. We need honesty not white lies.

True, what if he had asked her out....interfering little twits, its patronising too. He's not a pity case, he's a person and you shouldn't lie. I mean you shouldn't go..oooh she doesn't fancy you, but you shouldn't lie and say she does. I fancied people at school, i didn't know if they liked me or not. I would hate it if someone lied to me and went ye he does like you. It was totally innappropriate for you to be shouted at.
