8 December 2009 Blue Badge Spaces: The Last Straw
I have had a disabled parking badge for about 12 years and have become increasingly annoyed at drivers complete disregard of the serious point of them. Last Thursday night, I thought, 'Enough's enough!. My family and I went to The o2 and as we park up in an obviously disabled friendly vehicle, a blatantly non-disabled driver parks next to us. He walks off, but comes back after his conscience is pricked. Now he reversed alongside me and all I could do, bar ram his car or shout expletives, I stare right at him (feeble, I know). From now on, no-one will dare cross me!
By the way, anybody with advice on what to do next time, feel free to reply. Also, if you feel the same please let me know. You can reach at my email, utdfan85@aol.co.uk.

Hi Lewis I feel the same way! This is an important issue that affects a lot of us- it was even raised at the Motability Focus Group last week which I got the opportunity to attend through the Trailblazers!
There are 3 main issues which surround the blue badge-
1)Misuse of the blue badge- by friends or families
2)People parking without a badge
3)Awarding a blue badge too easily and without proper application of the criteriaFraud should be a serious issue but no one seems to enforce this when it comes to blue badges! When people are blatently non disabled there should be punitive measures in place- i personally think w eshould be letting their tyres down but hey!! i joke!
When I have confronted people in the past they feel a little embarassed but make up some excuse about going to pick up someone- but without a displayed badge??! This to me seems cowardly!
The Government or Local Authority should definitely do something.. i feel if local places- like the 02-interfere- by clamping down or ticketing a few cars without badges this should deter others!!
